Re: Doubts regarding process of joining Indian Army

The complete process of joining army for a B.COM graduate is mentioned below
As a B.COM graduate, you have only two ways to join army,CDSE and if you have a NCC certificate.

The CDSE is a combined defence service examination which allow one to apply for the four academy that is IMA(Indian Military Academy),OTA(officers Training Academy),NA(Naval Academy),AFA(Air Force Academy).

The name of the academy only gives you the idea about the wings to which they belong to.The IMA and OTA will give you the entry for the army.
The qualification required is graduation from any stream for both IMA and OTA,age limit for IMA is 19 to 24 years and for OTA is 19 to 25 years(at the time of commencement of the course).

Now after appearing for the entrance exam,if you clear the stage then will be called for SSB(Service Selection Board) interview, then the medical test if you pass all this stages you will be find yourself wearing army uniform.

If you have a NCC certificate, then you will be exempted from the entrance exam, will be directly called for the SSB interview.Other qualifications are same.
But you need to have minimum 55% in the degree in order to apply for the NCC entry but no such percentage is required for applying through the CDSE.No percentage bar for CDSE entry.

The training period for the IMA entry is 18 months, for both OTA and NCC it is of 49 weeks.
No your entry will be as a officer, not as a soldier you wont be fighting in the battlefield.

There is no minimum marks fixed for the CDSE,that you need to score to qualify, you just concentrate hard in your preparation, the best way to prepare yourself is to study the previous year question papers of CDSE,available on the website of the UPSC.www.upsc.gov.in

Friend, as you are a commerce graduate, so you will have two options, that is, * CDS Examination * Ground Duty Branch in Airr Force through AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test)-- Being commerce graduate, you are eligible for both CDS Examination and AFCAT-- Age limit needed as given below: * 19-25 years for Ground Duty Branch in AFCAT * 19-25 years for Officer Training Academy * 19-24 years for Indian Military Academy * 19-23 years for Naval Academy-- Required to be citizen of India-- Both sexes/gender are eligible-- Physical fitness is top priority in recruitment process-- Height needed: * 157.5 cm for OTA and IMA * 162 cm for Airforce and NavyThere is no any specified marks which candidate must have to secure to get success. The candidate are selection on the basis of merit which is based upon cut off. While cut off never remains constant as it varies from year to year. So candidate should put his cent percent efforts to get more and more marks as possible.Suggested books for CDS Examinations: * Arihant's Publication * Upkar's Publication * Kiran's Publication * Ramesh Publishing House
