    Is Maths compulsory for all IMA and OTA?

    In CDS exam i give the first preference to IMA but i am not interested to give the paper of math .If i donot give the paper of math so it count in OTA or not.
    Math paper is compulsary for all IMA and OTA

    CDS stands for Combined defense services examination and to apply for this examination you need to complete your Graduate degree course, the examination was conducted by UPSC Every year 2 Times, CDS (I) and CDS (II). If you are Interested in defense services then please apply for CDS Examination for next year examination. The examination will consist of objective type questions only. The question papers of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be set in Hindi as well as English.

    For IMA, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy, you need to cracked these three papers, English, Elementary Mathematics and General Knowledge.

    But for OTA (Officers’ Training Academy), You need to complete English and General Knowledge Paper, Maths is not applicable in OTA, So If you have cracked only English and General Knowledge Paper, then you are eligible for OTA, The selection are based on merit, So if your name is listed in the Merit, then it means you are eligible for Next Process. The duration of each subject examination was 2Hr of 100 Marks each. So please prepare for CDS Examination according to the given pattern.

    The Notification of Next year CDS (I) Examination was going to be Published on 29/Oct/2011 and the last date of apply for this examination was 28/Nov/2011 and the examination was going to be held on 12/Feb/2012, The Notification was going to be Published in this month, so please wait for the Notification and then apply for this examination Online or Offline, The Offline application form can be obtained directly form the Designated post offices in India, so you can easily collect form there otherwise you can apply for this examination Online by visit the UPSC website, So please check the UPSC website for complete Information -

    so mathematics is compulsary for OTA

    No,mathematics is not compulsory for OTA(Officer Training Academy).


    IMA and OTA both training Academy examination conducted by Combined Service Examination.If you want to clear Naval Academy and Air Force Academy entrance exam then you required to focus on Communication skills,Mathematical problems and GK(General Knowledge).

    Selection of candidate for all IMA and OTA examination on the basis of following test :-

    1. Written Test

    2. Personality and Group discussion test

    3. Artificial Intelligence test

    4.Medical and Physical fitness test


    Each paper of OTA and IMA consist 300 marks and time duration for each subject was 2 Hours.If you want to fill application forms then please hurry up because last date of Submission of application forms is 28/11/2011.

    For Admit card of OTA examination please take soft copy of your admit card and print them.No special admit card send to all candidates.

    C.D.S Examination was conducted by the Union Public Service Commission every year.

    Officer Training Academy examination :-

    CDS exam offers candidates to join in :

    • Indian Navy
    • Indian Air Force
    • Officer Training Academy
    As you have asked for the information regarding the IMA and OTA,whether you need to to have maths as subject.

    Of course,no it is not compulsory that you need to have maths as subject for joining in IMA and OTA.

    You would need to satisfy certain criteria's for joining in IMA and OTA in CDS,and they are:

    my dear friend
    cds means common defence services. if you want to apply to cds you must complete graduvation.and age limit between 18-28 years. and your eyesight must be a 6/6 and your must 165 cm also. the notification of cds examiniation will releasednext year 12/feb/2012. so you will applied next year.

    well to join defence maths is mandatory.

    As it is clear you should have 60%marks with maths and physics.

    now,you can decide the importance of mathematics .

    but for ima and ota it is not compulsary.

    Information regarding CDS examination :

    CDS stands for combined defence service . It is one of the defence examination conducted by UPSC For every .CDS examination divided into two category namely written examination and interview . if your qualified in written examination then you will send for following training academy like Army Academy , Navy Academy , Airforce Academy , Officer training academy .

    If you are interested in joining IMA(Indian Military Academy,then you have to appear for Elementary Maths exam.

    & For OTA(Officers Training Academy) there will be no requirement of Mathematics paper



    CDS (Combined defence service exam) exam is conducted twice a year to select eligible students for pre-commissioned training in 4 Academies:

    IMA
    OTA
    Air force Academy
    Naval Academy


    Written Exam pattern(for IMA ,Naval Academy & Air force Academy)
    There will be 3 section of objective type:
    1.Mathematics 2.GK 3.English
    Each section is of 100 marks


    For OTA
    There will be 2 sections of objective type question:
    English and GK
    Each section of 100 Marks

    As there is need of Mathematics for IMA & No need for OTA.Choice is totally your's whether in which you are interested.

    If You Want To join IMA , then you have to appear in maths paper .If you want to join both IMA and OTA , Then You will have to appear in maths. If You are interseted in joining only OTA , then you will not have to appear in Maths .

    ,you can write the CDS exam which offers you such option to join in them as it is a defence service exam.

    For writing the CDS exam for joining in
    IMA and OTA you need to satisfy certain eligibility criteria and they are:

    Candidate must have a citizenship in India and the candidate appearing for joining in IMA must be a unmarried male candidate,and for candidate who want to join in OTA can be a married or unmarried male candidate.

    The age limit for joining in IMA is 19-24 years and for OTA it is 19-25 years.Regarding the education qualification for the exam you need to have completed a degree from a recognized university with a fair percentage.

    Candidate must be physically fit while appearing for the exam.

    If you satisfy all the above criteria's then you can apply for the IMA and OTA post through CDS Exam.

    Yes,Mathematics is compulsory for Indian Military Academy Position but not for Officers Training Academy.If You are not interested in Mathematics then you can apply for Officers Training Academy Positions.Here i'm providing their eligibility criteria once go through it;


    Indian Military Academy;

    You must completed your graduation from recognized university with any stream and Your age should be between 19 to 24 years.You have to qualify in Mathematics and Physics with at least 60% of marks from recognized university.This is a good career for the candidates those who want to see them selves in the top ranked positions in the Indian Military.If you do hard work for this position then surely you will be having chance to get opportunity in this position.

    Officers Training Academy;

    You must be completed your graduation with any stream from recognized university and Your age should be between 19 years to 25 years.For This position,You no need to have Mathematics,So You can apply for this position.


    If You want to get job in all the above positions then you have to qualify in Combined Defense Service Examination,If you want to apply for CDS Examination then you must be completed Degree with Mathematics and Physics or Engineering graduation from recognized university with any stream and Your age should be between 19 to 22 years.This exam will be conducted by UPSC twice in a year.

    Yes friend,Mths is a compulsory subject for IMA but it is of no concern when we talk about OTA.so you can go for OTA.
    The details for OTA are as follows:
    OTA stands for Officers Training Academy,to apply for it ,
    you must have completed your bachelors degree in any stream .
    you must have age between 19 to 25 years .

    To join OTA,you need to appear for CDS exam held by UPSC twice a year.
    The last date to apply for CDS I has gone so you can apply for CDS II.
    Notification will be released on 2.6.2012
    Date of Exam 16.9.2012

    Selection procedure of candidate for all IMA and OTA examination on the basis of following test :-

    HI FRIEND...

    Yes you can take NDA(national defence academy) only after your 10+2 education.
    National Defence Academy(NDA) conducts exam twice in a year.

    Eligibility: You should have completed +2 with minimum pass mark.
    Those who are studying II year +2 can also apply.

    Age limit: You must be 16 and half years old and less than 19 as on January 2011. You must also be physically and medically fit as per the requirements.

    Exam Pattern:Written Exam, multiple round interviews, group tasks, medical tests.

    Written exam has two parts: Mathematics(300 marks)
    General Ability test(600 marks)

    General Ability test has English(200marks) and General Knowledge(400marks)

    Important Dates:

    Release of Notification: October middle
    Last date of submission of appliation form: Middle of November
    Date of exam:April

    Applications will be available in various Head Post offices.

    FOR IMA....

    Yes ,MATHS is for sure a compulsory subject for IMA .

    you have to study maths in class 12th for entry into IMA.

    FOR OTA...
    It is an entry chance for you if you have not taken MATHS in 12th.
    you must have completed your bachelors degree in any stream .
    you must have age between 19 to 25 years .


    You can start preparing for it from now only.
    since you have got lot of time it will be benificial for you.
