you can join army directly by facing the ssb interview without giving any written examination.........
you can do it through 10+2 TES Entry in which you will get an engineering degree but it is a technical course
the age limit for tes is 16.5 to 19.5 years and minimum cutoff percentage required to apply is 70 % in PCM
however if you are looking for non-technical field then you will have face the written nda exam on clearing you will be subjected to ssb interview.........
the age limit for nda is 16.5 to 19 years(at the time of commencement of course..)
but you will have to give the written exam for that..........
so eventually you cannot join army in "NON TECHNICAL" side without facing the written exam

let me tell you that there are some job in non technical side in three defnce service
these are jobs which you can join:-
- lecuitenet in indian army, navy and airforce.
- as an ground duty officer in indiana irforce.
but to get get all these jobs you must have to pass 5 day SSB interview.

and if you want to join only after simple interview than you have to give these exams:-
- SSR and AA for indian navy
- group Y trade exam for indian airforce.
- simple soldier exam for indian army
