Who told you that you are not eligible for CDSE Examination, as per your age you are definitely eligible to apply for Combined Defence Services examination. You can apply for Air force academy and to apply for AFA, your age should not be more than 23 years. But you need a graduate degree to apply for this examination.

Other than CDSE Examination, you can also apply for AFCAT(Air force common admission test). Eligible candidates mayapply for these Branches :

:: Flying branch (Short Service Commission)
:: Technical branch (Permanent Commission for Men and Short Service Commissionfor Men/Women)
:: Ground Duty branches (Permanent Commission for Men and Short ServiceCommission for Men/Women)

To apply for Flying Branch of IAF, you need to complete your graduation in any discipline but must have study Maths and Physics as a compulsory subjects in your Intermediate examination. Those who have completed his Engineering degree course, may also eligible for Flying Branch. But you need to scored minimum 60% marks in your graduation to apply for AFCAT Examination.

For this year Notification was already published and the last date of apply for this examination was already passed.

To apply for Flying Branch your age should between 19 to 23 years. So you are eligible for this examination. So if you have missed the chance then you can apply next time, Please prepared well for this examination as per the give pattern.

There is no other way you can enter as a flying officer in Indian Air force Other than applying for the Common defence service(CDS).
Because the job vacancy in the Indian Air Force is always very few so the Air Force have made it Mandatory for every graduate to only apply for CDS Examination

Since your age will try pass the required age of 23 years , so you will not be unable to become an Officer in the Flying branch of the Indian Air Force.
But don't get dishearten my friend you can ap
Koala.jpgply for different posts in the Flying Branch as a airmen .

Hello sir do not worry. You can join indian air force as a pilot through afcat entry. This is totally different from nda or cds. It is conducted by air force board for the engineering students to join indian air force in following branches :1. FLYING BRANCH2. TECHNICAL BRANCH3. GROUND DUTY STAFFThis exam is conducted twice in a year. The notification will be released in the month of june and december for august and february exam respectively. Final year and pre final year students of engineering are eligible to apply for exam. The age limit for flying and ground duty staff is 23 years and maximum age limit for technical entry is 27 years.you should not have any active backlogs in your current semester. The minimum percentage required for afcat is 60 % throughout the academic session. you should be physically and mentally fit for exam. The written test will be off two hours and you have to attempt 100 questions .there will be a negative marking in the exam. The questions will be asked from various subjects such as GENERAL KNOWLEDGE. ENGLISH COMPRESSION. .REASONING APTITUDE .AND GENERAL SCIENCE.. So you have to work hard to clear the exam. The selected candidates will be called for selection interview at their centres.. I hope you will get selected in air force. For flying entry you must have to clear PILOT APTITUDE AND BATTERY TEST.

    Hey friend,

To join in Indian Air Force and that to in Flying Branch in it with having a qualification of doing 2nd year in Computer Engineering. The answer is that there is a way to join in the desired field by not writing the CDS or NDA exam, but you are not eligible at this stage as per the qualification which you possess.

The exam which you need to write is the AFCAT exam (Air Force Common Admission Test)

This exam is conducted for candidates to join in 1) Ground Duty Branch 2) Flying Branch 3) Technical Branch

As asked for joining in Flying Branch you need to satisfy the certain framed criteria's needed and they are:

    Nationality:

    >> You need to be a citizen of India

    Age Limit:

    >> The age limit needed for joining in Technical Branch is that you need to have 18-28 years of age

    Education Qualification:

    >> The education qualification needed is that you need to have completed a Engineering degree in Aeronautics and you should have got at least 60% aggregate in it.

    Pattern For the Exam:

    ALL THE BEST

Re: Way to get in Flying branch of IAF other than CDSE and NDA?

    dear sir,
you need not worry due to this factor:

You are only not eligible for NDA at this point because max age for that is 19 years.
but you will complete your engineering after 2 years i.e in 2014. right?

You can apply for CDSE and AFCAT in final year too.
Till then you will be 23 years in october 1991. you will be eligible for CDSE as well as AFCAT:

CDSE is for joining IAF, navy and army also.

For AFCAT: it is air force common admission test.
it is conducted twice in one year and has questions from:
    reasoning, aptitude, english and maths.

after that, the interview is taken by AFSB.
after the interview, you will be medically checked and if selected, you will be given the training.

    Keep checking the site upsc.gov.in

Friend, you are right that you are presently not able to apply for NDA Examination. Moreover, in future, till completion of engineering degree you will be over-aged for CDS Examination. You should concentrate now only on completion of engineering degree. Thereafter you may join Indian airforce through AFCAT - Air Force Common Admission Test. For which any engineering degree which will be possessed by you at that time. Also you will be fall within the required age limit of 20-27 years. But here you will considered only for ground duty & technical branch because for flying branch, required maximum upper age should be 23 years. For more detailed information, please visit official website of airforce.WISH YOUR BRIGHT FUTURE

    Hi appasbpatil

As of now u cannot join as pilot being a graduate.
if you are really interested to join as pilot you can take CPL ( Commercial Pilot license ) and then apply.
Age limit for CPL holders is 25 years.

There are options for you as pilot in Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. For which you are eligible to apply.

Hope my answer suffices your question
