    What are the physical and educational requirements of Air Force?

    Respected Sir/Madam,
    I would like to know the basic and major neccessary requiremets for Air force that includes physical as well as educational.
    I shall be very grateful if you could reply me as soon as possible.

    Dear friend,
    Candidates with good Physical Strength are the first Priority in Air force.
    You should be physically fit to ensure your selection in Indian Air force
    Basic Physical Requirements for Air force are Given as:

    Height & Weight
    First you will be judged on Height and Weight Criteria.Your Height should be according to your weight,Check it out from here:

    Vision
    Vision is also one of the neccesary criteria to be fulfilled.
    >>You should have a good binocular vision
    >>Eye sight should be corrected to 6/6 without Glasses
    >>Hypermetropia allowed is +2.00 & Myopia is Nil
    >> You are rejected If you undergone Radial Keratotomy or any other eye surgery.

    • Your Chest will fully expand to 5 cms.
    • No disease of Joints and Bones.
    • You should not have a past history of nervous breakdown.



    BASIC EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS Needed to enter into Air force is 12th Standard with Physics and Mathematics as compulsary subjects for Air force.
    You can appear for NDA Exam after passing or appearing in 12th class.Eligibility details are as follows:
    Must be a citizen of India

    Passed class 12th with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.

    Only Unmarried Males are allowed

    Age Limits
    Your age should not be less than 16.5 years & not more than 19 years.

    you can go throught the exams like nda ,cds etc.Education qualification : You should be passed in 10+2 with math and physics.Minmum 60% marks In 12th. Appearing Candidates Can Also apply but result and original marksheet should available at the time of interviewAge : Your age should be 17 to 19 years.candidates should be physically fit.

    Students those who are appearing in the final year of degree course can also eligible.

    Martial Status :- Single

    Gender :- Only male candidates are eligible to apply for the examination.

    Flying(Pilot) :-

    Age limits :- Applicants must have Minimum 19 years to Maximum 23 years.

    Qualification :- You must hold the graduate or B.E/B.Tech with 60% from a recognized Univeristy or equivalent qualification.

    Students those who are appearing in the final semester can can also eligible.

    Martial Status :- Single

    Gender :- Male/Female candidates are eligible to apply for the examination.

    NCC Special entry :-

    Age limits :- Candidate should have Minimum 19 years to Maximum 23 years.

    Qualification :- The candidate must hold the graduate or B.E/B.Tech with 60% from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.

    12th passes candidates= need to write NDA exam.

    age limit=16 1/2 -19years

    % needed=minimum 55% in physics ans maths or other fields.

    Those candidate are completed graduation are eligible for SSB exam but 12 standard subject must be Math and Physics.

    B-TECH ans BE student are also eligible for this exam .But you have not any Pending Backlog.

    Final Year student are also eligible for SSB exam.There is no percentage marks criteria.

    Age Limit => Between 20-27 years at the time of joining.

    The course starts every year in the month of January and July.
    Advertisement of the application form published in March/April & Oct./Nov in employment newspaper.

    PHYSICAL TEST:-

    Some physical process for SSB exam .So you can prepare well about this.

    Jogging 3 to 5 kms interspersed with short sprints

    Skipping

    Push ups and sit upís (minimum 20 each)

    Chin ups (minimum 8)

    Learn the art of swimming (Non-swimmers will be taught at the training Academy respectively)

    Those candidate are good in play Football, Hockey, Cricket, Basket ball, Kabaddi etc are preferable.

    DEAR CANDIDATE,

    YOU can go for the Indian air force through the two main procedure. NDA and CDS both are carried out by UPSC twice a year.

    FOR NDA:-
    your age should be in between 16.5 to19 years.age more then 19 years are not allowed.
    you should be the citizen of India.
    applying candidate eye sight must be good.
    candidate should be physically and mentally strong.
    the minimum qualification required for NDA is 12th from a well recognized board.
    the unmarried candidates are allowed for the NDA.

    FOR CDS:-
    YOUR AGE SHOULD BE IN BETWEEN 19 TO 25 YEARS.
    the minimum qualification required for CDS is graduation from a recognized university.
    only unmarried candidates are allowed.
    applying candidate should be the citizen of India.
    candidate should be physically and mentally strong and free from any kind of disability.
    candidate eye sight must be good.

    Medical Standards for the Flying Branch
    If you are applying to the Flying Branch, you must remember that apart from the general physical standards, there are some standards that are specifically applicable to you. Listed below are the physical requirements applicable to both men and women applying to the Flying Branch.
    • Anthropometric Measurements
      The acceptable anthropometric measurements are as follows:
      Men
      Minimum Height
      162.5 cms without any exceptions
      Leg Length
      Minimum- 99 cms.
      Maximum- 120 cms.
      Thigh Length
      Maximum- 64 cms
      Sitting Height
      Minimum- 81.5 cms
      Maximum- 96 cms


      Women
      Minimum Height
      162.5 cm.
      Leg Length
      99 cm.
    • X-ray
      X-ray of cervical and Lumbosacaral spine will be carried out.
      The following conditions detected in the X-ray will be a cause for rejection.
      • More than mild Kyphosis/ Lordosis, Scolosis more than 15 by Cobb's method.
      • Herniated Nucleus Pulposus.
      • Presence of Schmorl's node at more than one level.
      • Atlanto occipital and atlanto-axial anomalies.
      • Any other abnormality, if so considered by specialist.
    • Vision
      • Distant Vision 6/6 without spectcles.
      • Near Vision N-5 each eye.
      • Color Vision CP-1(ML T).
      • Manifest Hypermetropia must not exceed + 2.00 Dsph "Myopia - Nill" and Astigmatism + 0.75 DSph.
    • Occular Muscle Balance
      Hetrophoria with the Maddox Rod Test must not exceed:
      At 6 meters Exophoria 6 prism Diopters
      Esophoria 6 prism Diopters
      Hyperphoria 1 prism Diopters
      At 33 cm. Exophoria 16 prism Diopters
      Esophoria 6 prism Diopters
      Hyperphoria 1 prism Diopters



      Binocular vision - must possess good binocular vision (fusion and stereopsis with good amplitude and depth).
    • EEG
      Routine EEG should be within normal limits.
    • In addition , for flying branches the under mentioned rules will also apply:-
    • (a) Spinal anomalies acceptable for Flying duties
    • Bilateral complete sacralisation of LV5 and bilateral complete lumbarisation of SV1.
    • Spina bifida in sacrum and in LV5, if completely sacralised.
    • (b) Spinal conditions not acceptable for flying duties:-
    • Scoliosis more than 15 degree as measured by Cobb's method.
    • Herniated nucleus pulposus.
    • Presence of Scmorl's nodes at more than one level.
    • Atlanto-occipital and atlanto-axial anomalities.
    • Hemi vertebra and / or incomplete block (fused) vertebra at any level in cervical, dorsal, dorsal or lumbar spine and complete block (fused) vertebra at more than one level in cervical or dorsal spine.
    • Unilateral sacralisation or lumbarisation ( complete or Incomplete) at all levels and bilateral incomplete sacralisation or lumbrarisation.
    The following are however conditions pertaining to women that will entail rejection for all Air Force Duties:
    • Acute or chronic pelvic infection
    • Severe menorrhagia
    • Severe dysmenorrhea
    • Complete prolapse of uterus
    • Pregnancy/ Amenorrhea
    • Any other gynecological condition, if so considered by the specialist.
    • The following conditions detected radiologically will disqualify a candidatefor all Air Force Duties:-
    • Granulomatous disease of spine.
    • Spondylolithesis / Spondylosis.
    • Compression fracture of Vertebra.
    • Scheuerman's Disease ( Adolescent kyphosis)
    • Loss of cervical lordosis when associated with clinically restricted movements of cervical spine.
    • Unilateral / Bilateral cervical ribs with demonstrable neurological or circuitary deficit.
    • Any Other abnormality if so considered by the speacialist.
    • Arthridies / Spondylosis.
    • Rheumatoid arthritis and allied disorders.
    • Ankylosing Spondylitis.
    • Osteoarthrosis, spondylosis and degenerative joint disease.
    • Non-articular rheumatism ( e.g lesions of the rotator cuff, tennis elbow, recurrent lumbago etc.)
    • Misc disorders including SLE, Dermatomyositis, Polymyositis and Vasculitis.
    Vision Standards for the Flying Branch Short Service Commission:-
    • (a) Visual Acuity 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia.
    • (b) Manifest Myopia - Nil.
    • (c) LASIK Surgery for correction of vision is admissible in Transport and Helicopter streams of Short service Commission (Flying Branch)
    • if the following conditions are fulfilled at the time of Air Force medical examination:-
    • (i) LASIK Surgery should not have been carried out before the age of 20 years.
    • (ii) The axial length of the eye should not be more than 25.5 mm as measured by IOL master.
    • (iii) At least twelve months should have lapsed post uncomplicate stable LASIK. No history or evidence of any complication.
    • (iv) The post LASIK corneal thickness as measured by a corneal pachymeter should not be less than 450 microns.
    • (v) Individuals with high refractive errors (>6D) prior to LASIK are to be excluded. Candidates must not suffer from colour or night blindness.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-Should be in good physical and mental health.The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cm. There should be no disease of bones and joints of the body. You should not have any present or past disease of the ear, nose and throat. Your blood pressure should also be normal.You should not be suffering from severe pyorrhoea.no disease of the skin, which is likely to cause disability.
