Re: What is the selection procedure for Indian Air Force flying branch? How to prepare for the exams and SSB?

    Hello,

In order to be in flying branch of IAF, it is mandatory for one to pass PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test). Those candidates who do not qualify in the pilot aptitude test are not given second chance ever. This test is taken to check the natural ability of a candidate to become a pilot. PABT consist of three stages-

    1) Instrument reading- various meters like altimeter, galvanometer etc is being shown to you in a booklet and you have to tell its readings.
    2) Plane direction- In this various pictures of a plane are being shown and you need to tell about its direction.
    3) Vedio game test- This test is there to check your ability of making quick decision and how fast your reflexes are. This is a vedio game testing.

For all above three stages, a tutorial is given to all the candidates. A practice test is being done and only after this a candidate appears finally for test.

This procedure is followed by SSB, which checks the physical endurance and mental alertness of a candidate. You need to be confident and optimistic through out the procedure. In order to prepare for this keep a regular watch on newspaper as questions can be asked by inquisitor in interview. You can refer Arihant publication books also for getting through entire procedure of SSB.

    Thank you
